Baldy Knoll Yurt

Back Country Ski Trip to Baldy Knoll Yurt
3/14 - 3/17/16
We drop our packs and skis at a pull out on an unplowed road along Fox Creek and head north into Wyoming and the western hills of the Tetons.
About a mile up we cross Fox Creek and transition from road to trail.

The mandatory guide for first time visitors turned out to be a very good idea since the beginning of the trail is pretty obscure and buried in new snow.  Plus, he breaks trail the whole way!

Up we go.
We reach the yurt late afternoon.  That's it on the right -- drift berm design.
The entry feels a little iglooish, but...

Humm.....

Nice inside

View of the glowing yurt window from the pee platform.

The days that follow provide plenty of new snow (no Grand views),

some sketchy traversing

and a few surprises.
So where are the photos of wonderful, powder runs?  That would be something only Apple can answer, for now.
Maybe I can borrow a few.

Finally, sunny skies on the way out.

But by now, the best view is to the valley

Then, the long drive home.....
